How Jake Friend and Greg Harris Are Building Friendly Plumbing Together

Friendly Plumbing is led by two owners who bring very different experience to the business.

Greg Harris has spent more than 35 years working across plumbing and home services. Jake Friend brings the experience of a 264-game NRL career with the Sydney Roosters, where he captained the club, won three Premierships and represented Australia and Queensland.

Their careers have been different, but both have spent years working in environments where people, preparation and standards matter.

That shared approach now helps shape the way we build our team and deliver plumbing services across Sydney.

Two Different Paths Into Leadership

Greg’s leadership has been shaped by decades in plumbing and home services.

His experience gives him a practical understanding of what customers expect from a plumber, as well as what teams need behind the scenes to deliver a reliable service.

For Jake, leadership developed in professional sport.

During his time with the Sydney Roosters, he worked in an environment where preparation, accountability and teamwork were part of everyday performance.

“During my career, I learnt that great results come from a strong team, preparation and high standards. Greg and I bring those same values to Friendly Plumbing,” Jake said.

Those lessons now come together in a very different setting, with both owners focused on building a team that knows what is expected and has the support to do the job well.

Greg Harris: Experience Built Over More Than 35 Years

Greg’s experience gives Friendly Plumbing a strong industry foundation.

Over more than 35 years, he has worked across plumbing and home services and seen how important good systems, clear communication and reliable service are to customers.

That experience helps guide the way our team is trained, how jobs are quoted and how work is completed.

For Greg, good plumbing service goes beyond fixing the immediate problem.

“We want customers to know what to expect from their plumber – clear communication, honest advice, upfront pricing and quality work completed with care,” Greg said.

That customer-first thinking plays an important role in the standards we set across the business.

Jake Friend: Bringing Team Leadership Into Business

Jake’s career with the Sydney Roosters gave him a different perspective on leadership.

Across 264 NRL games, he experienced what it takes to perform under pressure, work as part of a team and maintain standards over a long period of time.

He captained the Roosters, won three Premierships and represented Australia and Queensland.

Today, those experiences influence the way he approaches business leadership.

The environment is different, but some of the principles are the same: prepare properly, communicate clearly, know your role and support the people around you.

For Jake, building the right team is not only about finding skilled people. It is also about creating an environment where people understand the standard and can work well together.

The Team Behind the Service

For customers, much of this leadership happens behind the scenes.

Our plumbers are fully licensed and accredited, with ongoing training to support consistent workmanship across each job.

We also place a strong focus on how customers are treated.

That means communicating clearly, working with care and respecting the customer’s home from the time we arrive until the job is complete.

Greg’s industry experience helps shape the systems and service expectations behind the work, while Jake’s leadership background supports the way we think about team culture and performance.

Together, those areas help create a more consistent experience for both our plumbers and our customers.

What Customers Should Expect

When someone calls a plumber, they should not have to wonder what happens next.

They should receive clear advice, understand the work being recommended and know what they can expect from the person arriving at their home.

That is why we focus on a few simple things:

  • honest advice
  • upfront pricing
  • clear communication
  • quality workmanship
  • ongoing training
  • care and respect in the home

These standards are straightforward, but delivering them consistently depends on what happens behind every job: the people, systems, training and leadership supporting the team.

Building the Next Chapter Together

Jake and Greg have come into Friendly Plumbing from very different professional backgrounds.

Greg brings decades of plumbing and home-services experience. Jake brings lessons from elite sport, leadership and high-performance teams.

What they share is a strong belief in people, preparation and clear expectations.

That combination continues to influence the way Friendly Plumbing develops its team, supports its customers and approaches the work we do across Sydney.
