Pipe Relining Gets Stevie English Hair Salon Back on Track

When Stevie English had a serious sewer problem at his Glebe hair salon, it was something that needed to be dealt with quickly.

The Friendly Plumbing team found that the sewer had collapsed or partially collapsed. The damaged section was repaired using pipe relining, which repairs a damaged pipe from inside rather than digging it all out.

For Stevie, getting the plumbing working again was important because water is a key part of running a hair salon.

“If our plumbing doesn’t work, we can’t work, right? So, we’re super grateful.”

Stevie English speaks with Jake Friend about the sewer repair completed at Stevie English Hair in Glebe and his experience with the Friendly Plumbing team.

A Partially Collapsed Sewer Needed More Than a Quick Fix

Stevie called Friendly Plumbing after the salon developed what he and Jake described as a serious sewer problem.

Jake explains in the video that the pipe had collapsed or partially collapsed.

That meant the problem was not simply about clearing a blocked drain. The damaged section of sewer pipe also needed to be repaired.

Stevie said having the problem explained clearly helped him understand what needed to happen.

“Your whole team was so friendly, so knowledgeable… often they talk jargon, whereas your boys were super good. They were super honest.”

Pipe Relining Repairs the Damaged Sewer

The Friendly Plumbing team attended the Glebe salon and used pipe relining to repair the damaged sewer.

Pipe relining creates a new lining inside the existing damaged pipe, allowing structural damage to be repaired without replacing the whole section through excavation. Friendly Plumbing lists this as a no-dig repair method for damaged sewer and stormwater pipes.

Stevie said the team also made it clear what could be done, what could not be done and what the next steps would involve.

“This is what I can do, this is what I can’t do.”

For someone who knows hair rather than plumbing, that clear explanation made the process easier to follow.

Plumbing Restored So the Salon Could Keep Working

The sewer repair was completed and the problem was sorted.

Stevie described the experience as:

“Super fast, super efficient, super friendly.”

But the bigger outcome for Stevie was being able to keep the salon operating.

“Ultimately, when you run businesses, you want to work… if our plumbing doesn’t work, we can’t work.”

Leaving a collapsed or partially collapsed sewer untreated could have increased the risk of another blockage, wastewater backing up or the damaged section becoming more difficult to repair.
