Supporting Our Sydney Community
Friendly Plumbing is proud to support organisations that are making a positive difference in the communities where we live and work.
We are proud to support KidsXpress and local clubs that play an important role in the lives of children and families across Sydney.
Jake knows first-hand how much the support of a strong community can matter. Local clubs, families and people in the community played an important part in his rugby league journey. Today, giving back to some of those communities is an important part of Friendly Plumbing.

Proud to Support KidsXpress
Friendly Plumbing is proud to partner with KidsXpress, a children’s mental health charity supporting children and families.
Jake first connected with KidsXpress while he was still playing with the Sydney Roosters. He visited its former centre at the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park and saw how music, art, games and other creative activities were used to help children express what they were thinking and feeling.
That first visit stayed with him. Jake kept in touch with KidsXpress over the years, and Friendly Plumbing is now one of the founding business supporters of its Building Strong Minds program.
KidsXpress supports children aged 12 and under through Expressive Therapy, using art, music, play, drama, dance and movement to help children express what they are thinking and feeling.
Friendly Plumbing will support KidsXpress through an annual donation and community fundraising activities, including events run with the local clubs we support. Jake’s long-term hope is to help KidsXpress work towards a purpose-built centre of its own.

Backing Local Sport Across Sydney
Local sporting clubs give young people a place to learn, make friends and be part of a team.
They also rely on parents, coaches, volunteers and supporters who give their time to keep the clubs running.
For Jake, supporting these clubs is also personal. Several are connected to people and communities that supported him at important points in his own life.
Backing these clubs gives Friendly Plumbing a way to give something back while helping community sport continue to grow across Sydney.

Coogee Netball Club

Coogee Netball has a special connection to Jake. When he moved from Noosa to Sydney at 16 to pursue his rugby league career, Linda Baptist and her family took him in and supported him as he started a new life away from home.
Linda has been part of Coogee Netball for more than 20 years and is still heavily involved with the club today. Friendly Plumbing now supports Coogee Netball through annual sponsorship, giving Jake the chance to give something back to people who once gave so much support to him.

Clovelly Surf Life Saving Club

Clovelly Surf Life Saving Club has been part of Jake’s life for many years. Friendly Plumbing Director Matt Scott is the club president, and both Matt’s children and Jake’s children are involved in Nippers.
The connection goes back to a difficult time early in Jake’s rugby league career. Members of the club took him under their wing and trained with him several days a week while he worked to get back into the game.
Today, Friendly Plumbing sponsors Clovelly Surf Life Saving Club. For Jake, it is a chance to give back to a club and community that supported him when he needed it most.

Eastern Suburbs Junior Rugby League

Junior rugby league is where Jake’s own love of the game began. He remembers those years as some of the best of his life, when he played simply because he loved being on the field.
That makes supporting the Eastern Suburbs Junior Rugby League Mini League a natural fit for Friendly Plumbing. Our support includes financial sponsorship as well as equipment such as tents and post pads used across the competition.
The Mini League brings together local junior clubs including Bondi United, Clovelly Crocodiles and Paddington Colts, giving young players the chance to enjoy the game, build friendships and be part of a team.
Supporting the competition is one way Friendly Plumbing can help the next generation create some of the same early rugby league memories Jake still values today.

Local Junior Clubs
Bondi United
A long-standing Eastern Suburbs junior club, established in 1946, helping local players learn, play and enjoy rugby league as part of a team.

Paddington Colts
A local Eastern Suburbs junior club that returned in 2015, giving young players another place to enjoy rugby league and be part of a team.

Clovelly Crocodiles
Part of the Eastern Suburbs rugby league community since 1917, the Clovelly Crocodiles have a proud history of developing local junior players.

Lane Cove Tigers Junior Rugby League

Lane Cove Tigers is part of the local community around Jake and his family. Living nearby in Hunters Hill, many of his son’s friends play for the club, creating a natural connection to the Tigers.
That local connection has grown into support from Friendly Plumbing, with sponsorship for the club and Jake giving his time to help with coaching development.
It is another way we can back junior rugby league and help young players enjoy the game, learn from their coaches and be part of a local team.

Why Community Support Matters to Friendly
Community support at Friendly Plumbing is about more than putting a logo on a jersey or a sign.
Jake’s own story includes people and clubs that gave him opportunities, supported him through difficult times and helped him build a career. Giving something back to those communities is important to him.
Rugby league also showed Jake what a long career can make possible. As Friendly Plumbing grows, he wants the business to create that same kind of opportunity for its people – a place where they can build a career, create a future and achieve important goals in their own lives.
That same thinking carries into Friendly Plumbing. We work in people’s homes every day, and we want to care not only for the home, but for the people who live there
Supporting KidsXpress and local sporting clubs is another way we can put that belief into action and support children, families, players and volunteers across Sydney.
