From Premierships to Plumbing: The Story Behind Friendly Plumbing
The idea for Friendly Plumbing started with a conversation between mates at the Clovelly Hotel.
What began as an idea scribbled down over a casual chat developed into an opportunity for Jake to build something beyond rugby league.
With plumbing work available through people he knew and a mate already working in the trade, the foundations of the business began to take shape.
The Clovelly Hotel remains a Friendly Plumbing customer today – a connection back to where the story began and the local community that helped get the business started.
Jake Friend’s Next Chapter
Before Friendly Plumbing, Jake Friend spent more than a decade playing rugby league at the highest level.
As a former Sydney Roosters captain, Jake played 264 NRL games during a career that included three Premierships, four Minor Premierships and representative honours for Australia and Queensland.
He captained the Roosters across 121 games and built his career around preparation, teamwork, accountability and maintaining high standards over a long period of time.
As Jake began considering life beyond professional rugby league, the idea for Friendly Plumbing started taking shape.
When his playing career ended, he turned his attention to building the business and creating a team around many of the principles that had shaped his sporting career.
Today, Jake brings that leadership experience to Friendly Plumbing, working alongside Greg to build a strong team and create a better experience for customers.

Greg Harris brings more than 35 years of experience across the plumbing and home-services industry.
During his career, Greg has worked in and led service businesses where strong systems, good training and a consistent customer experience are essential.
His experience helps shape the way Friendly Plumbing operates today – from how technicians are trained and supported to the way jobs are quoted, communicated and completed.
Greg understands what customers should expect from a professional plumbing business and works closely with Jake and the Friendly team to continually improve the service they provide.
